The Practitioner
Author and Musician

I'm Dane Clark Collins, a creative practitioner whose primary mediums are experimental music and surreal horror, fantasy, and science fiction.
Creative Grimoire is an ongoing creative memoir—my exploration of creativity. My practice spans multiple realms: I write horror and sci-fantasy fiction, create experimental psychedelic music under the moniker Inhuman Genome, and develop tools to help other creatives.
The Questions That Drive Me
Through decades of creative practice and research, I've been consumed by fundamental questions about the nature of creativity:
- How can a person have more profound and useful ideas?
- What does it take to bring ideas into the world?
- What are the optimal ways to practice a craft?
- How can a person cultivate improvisational creativity?
These are questions with a surprising number of good answers, as practiced by artists and innovators and as studied by scientists. I've kept extensive records of my research and my own experience over decades, turning this site into a living grimoire of creative knowledge.
